There are several posts (here) relating to Kilkenny’s Cat Laughs Festivals in Ireland. Up to 2004 it was sponsored by Murphys but, in August of that year, it was announced that the 9-year deal was being ended.

As told by the Irish Independent they transferred their sponsorship to the new UnCorked Festival in Cork (a couple of hours further South). Part of the decision was because Cork was due to become EU Capital of Culture in 2005.

Jimmy still appeared in Kilkenny (here) from June 4^th to 6^th – but also headlined UnCorked by performing at the Everyman Palace Theatre on June 3^rd 2004.

This was a part of his Public Display of Affection tour.

I’m not sure how successful this change of sponsorship was (for Murphys) because the UnCorked website is dead and I can’t find any evidence that it ran in 2005.

Also, looking at this VERY short list of comedians (that appeared in 2004) it’s hard to not compare it to the lengthy list at Kilkenny (here). Doesn’t look great.
