In this story about where Jimmy’s 2nd gig may have been (here) you can see that Up The Creek (Greenwich) and Up The Creek Too (Croydon) are completely different places. In this 2002 post I wrote about how they are about 22 minutes apart (by tube and train) or an hour by car.
This gig on September 29th 2000 was at Up The Creek, Greenwich, started at 8pm and tickets were £10 / £6 concessionary.
On the bill that night were:
- Andy Parsons (known for Mock The Week)
- Jimmy Carr
- Col Parker
- Barry Custonola
Internal images of the venue can be seen – here – and the capacity is 275 people seated.
Who else was gigging?
The same venue, on the 30th, was described as “Jo Jo smith presents”. Jo Jo is a comedian so I’m not sure whether this means she was a compere. That 8pm show was priced at £14 / £10 and featured:
- Dave Johns
- Keith Doven
- Col Parker
Background
At this stage in his career Jimmy, having performed his first gigs in late 1998, was still performing above pubs and “going on stage after strippers” (his words) or entering comedy competitions.
There was no tour name at this point. Just driving up and down the UK, sometimes doing 2-3 venues a night.
There is a page (here) about the UK Comedy Circuit.
