Skinner warm-up role 1999

The Frank Skinner show ran from 1995 to 2005, changing from the BBC to ITV along the way.

At some point, early in his career, Jimmy was this show’s warm-up man. The problem is that, back then, this role wasn’t recorded. To be fair, it still isn’t recorded now but, with the advent of camera phones and social media, you do now (sometimes) get a warm-up comic mentioning that they were on a show – or an audience member will post a photo.

Several articles have briefly alluded to this role, example being this 2002 one from the BBC website.

The show moved to ITV in June 1999 so does this suggest that this warm-up role was early in ’99?? Sounds about right. Only guessing but I don’t think a BBC site would write about a warm up role, once the show had moved over to ITV?

There were 8 episodes recorded that year, 10 in 2000 and 12 in 2001-2, so it was an unknown number of shows somewhere amongst that lot, more like the 8 from 1999.

In this post here (about his warm-up roles) there is a 2010 video clip, where Jimmy mentions that he used to do warm-up for Frank.

Jimmy’s first TV writing experience was in 2000 (Meet Ricky Gervais, here) and then 2001 saw him feature on The Comedy Lab (here).

For now, this is as much as I can find.
