November 4th 2009 and Jimmy was running around the BBC Radion studios, promoting his Telling Jokes DVD (Here, released on the 2nd).
He’d been on the 4pm Scott Mills show (here) and then dropped into Tim Westwood’s show (here) but had also been on Simon Mayo’s show, earlier in the afternoon.
Simon Mayo was on BBC Radio 5 Live (R5) and his 3-hour show started at 1pm (details here).
He’d had on Peter Mandelson for half an hour and then Jimmy got about 23 minutes of air time which, sadly, I can’t find audio files for.
The topic, as below, was a joke made on his Rapier Wit tour which one person complained about and then the media exacerbated by phoning up relatives of wounded service people to tell it to them (see here).
At the time Jimmy had written the joke while visiting amputees at the Headley Court rehabilitation centre and also performing at fund raising gigs. for the British forces. Related stories – here.
