November 4^th 2009 and Jimmy was running around the BBC studios, dropping in on shows to promote his Telling Jokes DVD (released on the 2^nd).

This clip is from Scott Mills’ Radio 1 (R1) 4pm show, although there is no mention of Jimmy on the BBC episode page (here).

Title: Jimmy Carr, four missed connections and baffled old people

There is an overview of the content on Unofficial Mills (here) but note that the line “Jimmy Carr joined Scott after receiving an honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Southampton Solent University” refers to SCOTT receiving the honour, not Jimmy.

There is an audio clip (here) which lasts a smidge over 14 minutes and can be downloaded as an MP3, should you wish to.

With a 17-year lag (in listening to it) I’ve no idea what some of the references are, but a couple of things to pull out.

• Friday Night with Jonathan Ross (here) is discussed and Jimmy mentions that he’d recorded it the night before. From the sound of things this is his first meeting with Robbie Williams, who he would go on to be good friends with and has song writing credits on some of his tracks (here)
• Twitter – Jimmy was enthusiastic about using it to chat to fans (not any more, thanks for the trolls that constantly hurl abuse at him…this is why we can’t have nice things, as they say)
• Beccy Cam – they want him to go on something called Beccy Cam (the clip stops before that part) and it’s suggested that he go on Tim Westwood’s show on R1 Xtra, while they set up (details here)

Shortly before appearing on this show Jimmy had dropped in on Simon Mayo on Radio5 Live (here).
