There is a story in Chortle (read it here) relating to AI joke theft, which currently seems to be mostly affecting up and coming female comics.
Chortle says “one of the most prolific plagiarist accounts is Aylen Skye” and describes her as a thirst trap.
This is a worrying aspect of AI for anyone that is trying to make it as either a comedian, author, artist – any of the creative arts.
Almost a year ago I’d written (here) about the AI slop books that were written about Jimmy – and I’ve also flagged up the slop Facebook account (here) that seems to think Jimmy was performing his stand up dressed as a Vicar and other with fake quotes (here). Not to mention the “Bio” sites (described here) that are sucking text from this blog, making a hash of replicating some of the facts and generating additional Bios for Jimmy’s family members, from scant information.
The Chortle interview says that some of these fake accounts are finding it easier to attain verification than REAL comedians. Doesn’t surprise me one bit, considering some of the rubbish that I’ve seen – and I’m someone that curates my profiles, to try and block out the nonsense.
I think all of us that love comedy should block any accounts that are clearly fake engagement.
