Repeat Offender Tour & Prog

Jimmy has never produced a merchandise range but earlier tours always had glossy, A4 sized tour programmes produced. Copies can often be found on places like eBay and, if you are lucky, you may find an autographed one.

This is about the tour / programme for Repeat Offender (which would be released as the DVD In Concerthere).

The show was written and performed by Jimmy Carr.

He’d been on the Gag Reflex tour (here) and the first mention that I can find, of Gag Reflex, was at Edinburgh 2007 (here).

This tour was just around the UK but you can see from the tags for 2007 and 2008 that he was now doing a lot more television work (hosting his own shows, guesting on other people’s etc.).

Start / end dates of tours are always hard to be specific about (especially when it’s almost 20 years ago) as sometimes gigs are sold months in advance (under one tour name) and, by the time they roll around, Jimmy has ditched the material and performs material from the next tour.

Repeat offender continued to be used until around July 2008 and then we move into Joke Technician.

Programme

What kind of thing do you find in Jimmy’s tour programmes? I’ll add a couple of page images here and list the content.

Obviously, there is the promotional photo shoot and artwork and, back in 2007, the image on the front cover is the one that would be used for posters, print adverts etc.

  • Front cover – see below
  • Full page image
  • Introduction – thanks for coming, meet and greet afterwards, explains that some jokes in the programme will be favourites of his from The Naked Jape
  • You Asked Jimmy>>>> – 2 pages ofquestions submitted on MySpace and Facebook. Basically – FAQ.
  • Comedian – full double page promo for Comedian DVD, including some of the jokes from it
  • Edinburgh 2006 – 2 pages of an article that Jimmy wrote about his time at the Fringe 2006
  • Agony Aunt – 2 pages of Agony Aunt responses (2nd page, shown below)
  • Jimmy Carr card collection – handful of mocked up greeting cards with dark messages
  • Job application – mock job application with silly responses
  • The Naked Jape – full page promo – followed by a page of jokes from within the book
  • Wall – page mocked up to look like a torn and tatty wall with some promos on (partial image, below)
  • Sunday Times – 3 pages of articles from the Sunday Times
  • Connect the dots to reveal a message from Jimmy – never done it so not sure what it says!
  • Rude Wordsearch – see below. I’ve taken the title off in the hope that you can try it!
  • Thank yous – thanking his team, Karoline and fans on Facebook / MySpace, Jumbled up version of the front-page image.
  • Photo – clever picture of Jimmy, created from photos of him with fans, from meet and greets
  • Here’s Jimmy…. – Jimmy replicating the scene from The Shining

There was a tour poster within the programme:

  • Side 1 – is the same as the front of the programme (without the “tour programme and poster” text)
  • Side 2 – is The Shining scene picture, from the back cover of the programme – photographer credit is Karl J Kaul
